Winter road treatments

Lads, can anyone confirm if various county councils 'grit' the roads ' or 'salt' them? I know they use salt in the UK (i.e. more of a need for undersealing) but whatabout over here? I've only seen grit on the road (unless theres a slt compound mixed in?).

they don't use salt on public roads here. Only grit. 99% sure of that.

There's salt going on the roads I drive on - in co.meath (old n2, new n2) -also the blanch shopping car parks (not sure about the roads in the area as I haven't seen it lying about there)..
I think it's dependent on the local governing body...

I hear what you're saying Muad - I've seen grit and what looks like salt on roads in different parts of the country, hard to tell to be honest.

Aye...didn't notice any salt last year - but they're defo using it round my end of the woods this year..
I'm not a happy camper.. I like salt in my food - not on my car!
