Hi all,
Have been a member for a while just been busy, i have a Red 95 FTO,
I am workin in Limerick for a few years, will have my FTO 4 years in Jan.
It is a great car to drive.

A Limerick based mini-meet should be on the cards soon - or that karting day in Tynagh - its just a short blast up the road. We may even invite our esteemed members from inside the pale - FYI - when you get to the red cow roundabout - stay going West and you can't miss us. I know ye don't like leaving Dublin - but a day without luxuries such as good quality roads, adequate signage, flyovers, streetlighting or McDonalds won't kill ye.

Good quality roads? I assume you havn't been off the M50!
Could be a good reason to head out of the comfort of the Pale alright, won't we need a 4WD of some description though?

Yeah you'll probably need an STI impreza or an EVO MR400 to keep up with us muck savages in our FWD Coupes (with half the power) as were soooo much faster on with windy roads

The Tynagh Karts are far far quicker - much better track as well.
Kilcornan is more like dodgems than Karts. ( think I've used this in the right context CJ)
Might suit a couple of the Galway based guys as well.

hehe, i''m not sure you've been properly introduced to Dublins finest qualities MFFTO - <start rant> not only do we have the worlds largest car park (read M50), we also have some of the most amazing examples of how not to resurface a road after road works. And as it seems that almost every road in the pale is currently undergoing some form of road works you can imagine what a pain in the ass it is to drive up here. And don't get me started on the 5,000,000 atriculated lorries that trundle around the city on the route to/from Dublin Port!

Actually it's part of the reason I was persuaded (read forced) to sell on the FTO (or maybe I should have used to describe my current submission to the better half)

I'll let someone else rant about the lack of adequeate signage, streetlighting, poorly timed traffic lights, rediculous one way system (stephens green), eternally closed railway crossings, etc., etc....... <end rant>

phew, nice to get rid of lots of pent up frustrations

hehe, maybe - actually I used to get very tense and on edge when driving the FTO with any passengers in Dublin cause of the harsh ride over the crap roads. People actually started refusing lifts off me as a result (which wasn't always a bad thing). But I used to love driving down the country cause some of the roads are excellent, windy but smooth so now crashing around the place - reckon cause there are less artics travelling on these roads compared to the amount around dublin now.... maybe it's the same in all the big cities.

there are a few now, the kildare bypass down to say portloaise are pretty good roads! well bar monasterevan, (can't spell) that place is pretty rough!

The Monasterevin bypass is due to open in about 2 weeks time. Motorway from Portaoise all the way to Dublin Must resist temptation to treat it as autobahn

I thought the main road to both Kerry (Tralee) and Cork weren't bad - in fact I really enjoyed the drive to Tralee (most of it anyway).....


Some of the roads around Enfield aren't too bad either (in places)

There's some really nice roads around Enniskerry in Dublin too (which is near where I live)
