Cheers for the welcome lads, wouldnt be looking for a mitsubishi if I thought all hondas kicked ass
Wouldnt usually post in a thread unless something got my goat up and sweeping statements like the cyborg out performs the SiR hands down are plain sily at best. The main difference between these cars is one word RELIABILITY. The B16 will go on for 200k with nothing more than a timing belt and distributer change and more often than not still come off the dyno with close enough to stock bhp figures, the cyborg just wont do that for you. Both cars have similar enough wheelbases and suspension set-up, how one car can outperform another in this area mystifies me, and both cars are fwd so no matter how great to drive will never perform as a rwd would.
Ive got an ef8 mk2 sir with the newer b16 engine conversion, definitely not as fast as the fto top end and it doesnt look as well as the fto either, one of the reasons im on the lookout for one! As they say there's no replacement for displacement, but the thing is its cheaper to run(parts petrol, tax), less to insure and as fast as the lesser model fto's.
As for the fto vs gsr, well the fto wins looks wise hands down, stock vs stock (having driven both) the fto would be quicker top end but the gsr is quicker off the mark with its 4wd system, its also much more tunable with the turbo. At the end of the day when im looking for a new car I take three things into consideration in this order Performance, Reliability, looks. The fto has two of these over the gsr, and the SiR crx has similar performance to the cyborg, is way more reliable and looks better imo. Having a fast car is one thing but living with it day to day is another, i know so many fellas who have had serious cars but just couldnt drive them every day without serious regular maintenance and lots of money to boot.
