PIAA wipers

After all the recent talk about these wipers, I thought I'd get me a set, initial results seem very good, the weathers set to turn sh!te so we'll see how they stand up. No noise at all (I've ALWAYS had wiper noise on my FTO's) and only one or two judders so far, we'll wait and see, otherwise I have to give them the thumbs up

EBC Greenstuff v4s

My Pagids were on the way out, they're dusty as hell so I was eagar to throw a new set in there. While I was at it, I swapped out the set of worn drilled & grooved Black Diamond disks (the grooves were pretty much worn away) for a standard set that were barely broken in (1000 kms or so - the originals I got with the car). I'm still braking in the pads but so far I can say that they bite well (at least as well as the Pagids), although the nearly new disks are probably helping in that regard (a lot less pedal travel). I've used Greenstuff v2's in the past and I thought that they were sh!te, the v4s are a vast improvement. The only bad thing that I can say about them is they're a lot dustier than I had imagined; the advertising clearly states that they're a low dust pad, but I'm not so sure

They sure are dusty alright - I'm glad I powder coated my white wheels black. I guess they're not too dusty for a performance pad but they're way dustier than OE spec.

BTW - ON the PIAA front - did you apply the silicon wipe to the screen first?

Yep, I scrubbed the bejaysus out of the screen, used the supplied isopropyl wipes and then let the wipers run dry for 5mins as described on the pack. The next few days should be a good test bearing in mind the weather forcast.

The wipers are getting plenty of use at the minute and I'm sorry to say they're juddering across the windscreen, looks like PIAA aren't all they're cracked up to be

My PIAA work very well - no juddering and extremely quiet - water runs in beads on the windscreen - and it gives a very clean sweep. Give them a couple of days CJ. - When I first put the blades on they smeared a little untill they got a bit of use.

I just fitted a set of PIAAs and they're very good, hardly any judders and no noise but one thing that I noticed is that when there is only a bit of drizzle or spray from lorries etc, they leave a mist behind them that takes a half second to clear.

That said, I drove to Galway and back in the rain on Monday and it was worth having them for that trip alone - a vast improvement on the last (BOSCH) set.

Update:

Greenstuff pads: they're one of the dustiest pads I've ever used! Those of you who have used Pagids will know that they're extermely dusty but EBC take the bicsuit on the filthy alloy front, you wiould swear that I had stroked MfFTOs front alloys and stuck 'em on me own yoke!

PIAA wipers: the nearside wiper wasn't properly fixed into the wiper arm, the retaining clip was on the wrong way. While I still got 'judder' from the driver side (does it pass thru from one to the other?), I'll wait for a bit of rain and report back.

One of the reasons why I powder coated my white alloys black was for this very reason - you wash your car and by the time you've arrived home they're already caked in dust. Its a little amusing that they are consistently described as a "low dust" pad by EBC. But the the greenstuff V4 are a good pad - I have them all round on my car and they do a very good job of stopping the car in a hurry. I've had Mintex 1144's on before and tbh they weren't much better dust wise - I guess its the price you pay for a performance pad.

I just bought Bosch windscreen wipers in Halfords and these dont judder or anything and are reasonably prices. Prob not the best modification ever, but practical and economical
