GX V's GPX

Postby Damo » Wed Aug 02, 2006 12:44 pm

I just had an interesting conversation with My Insurance Company, I drive a GX but the letter I received back from them for my renewal had it down as a GPX Mivec. I phoned them thinking they had charged me too much but it turns out on their system they had the GX down as a more powerful car than the GPX. The GX is classed as group 10 with them while the GPX is group 8 so I'm insured in the correct class after all. I just thought it was very strange, I'm assuming this won't cause me any difficulty if I'm unfortunate enough to get into an accident?

seems strange though that they are classing a lower powered car as a higher risk....

I seem to remember Al posting about something similar before -i.e. AXA's ratings of the different FTO models.

i know for definite that they rate models differently, they were quoting me a good bit extra to go up to the GPX, but i'd be seriously questioning the fact that they are quoting the GX as a higher rating car.... surely it should be the other way around which in turn means you're being overcharged!!

Yeah that's why I phoned them but they have me insured under GPX so I wasn't overcharged in the end. The girl I was talking to didn't seem to think it was a problem.

AXA :x , dont get me started, but if i remember when i actually went to their long mile road branch to confront them, they had the gpx classed at least 4 different times:-
gpx mivec
gpx 24 valve
gpx V6
gpx 2.0L mivec

the list went on, it was classed with the likes of porsche 911, skyline GTR,s etc etc.

I'd say its a case of tell him something that will make him happy. I'd ring up with the same details (ie. age, ncb, address, etc) but use a different name. I did this with hibernian and they were charging almost double for my renewal quote compared to what I got in the second quote. The gits
