Mate of mine in Bristol got a BMW330i recently. Just back - had a spin yesterday. It had a tip gearbox which I didn't think much of - time lag between lowering the right shoe and anything happening seemed forever. Brakes were dead sharp though - vented discs front and rear - nearly went out through the windscreen when I tried them!
Can't remember what he said the HP was - 260 maybe - didn't feel anywhere as lively as a manual GPX though

The 330ci has 225bhp.... factory quoted 0-60mph is 6.5. Didn't impress me much when I test drove one recently - even the golf felt more lively

Had a go in the 2.0TD Golf as well - torque is unbelievable! You have to be quick about changing gears though, the power zone is quite small and you find yourself running out of revs very fast.
