WANTED: Plastic speaker carriers in doors

Postby Mitsumaniac » Thu Aug 06, 2009 10:43 pm

I haven`t got them and it`s pretty difficult to fit the speakers without them, so if someone have a spare set... to give away or sale

what size speakers are you trying to fit? pretty sure I installed speakers in the blue FTO without needing plastic bits

165cm generaly I can screw them to the metal but the whole audio system is like JBLs, ALPINEs, IMPRINT Sound Processors, the whole car is covered in Dynamat mats so I just wanted to be proffesional to the end
Probably I should`ve cut some MDF rings instead...

Colm, do you know by any chance if these plastics fit to 165cm speakers or just 130cm?

I have 165 in my silver one, but I know there was a lower spec speaker system option for the FTO. maybe this involved smaller front speakers ( it certainly involved 16.5 in the back with an adaptor plate to fit the 6*9 inch aperture)

Will see if there's any left over from the scrapped cars.

I have some of these. Defintely have some just not sure if they are 165 or 130 but if they are 165 you can have them. 165mm is it? 165cm would be huge  I'll check them and let you know.

165mm is standard in the FTO. I've seen rebranded Pioneers in the FTO on occasion, the standard paper ones aren't up to much.

Sorry was in Liverpool on a stags and forgot to update you on this. I cant find them at the minute, I searched the shed and didn't find them. I'll have another look and if I find them I'll let you know. Sorry about that but I know I have them somewhere just not surwhere I put them.
I have to meet you this week about the slam panel, I can meet you any evening that suits you just let me know when. If I find the speaker carriers before then I'll bring them with me.

They wouldn't be rebranded Pioneers by any chance? I've seen a few FTOs where there were Carrozzeria (Pioneer) speakers in place of the originals

You are correct, my mistake.

If you can't get the speaker holders, you can always knock up a bit of plywood to mount them on. This was done on my old GS a few years ago to good effect. It also allowed larger speakers to be fitted.
