Hi guys, after having my gpx resting for the last couple of months signed off the road i had really started to miss her.so today my new exeedy organic clutch has arrived, along with new inner cv cups so this means i can finally install get my fairly recently acquired rs short ratio gearbox and lightweight flywheel.while in the garage will also have a new timing belt,bearings and water pump.having this new running gear should transform the already amazing experience of driving such a well sorted car,and also give some added performance witch is never a bad thing will keep you updated with results

Should have her back 2moro all going well..but..the mivec colt inner cv cups are 2 small for the gpx cv joints. so am needing now to get colt mivec cvs and hope they fit my drives or does anyone know if I can use hole colt shafts as that may be easier??

Mirage drives would be too short. Fto drives work if there 25 spline type, yours must be 27 spline.

I'm not 100% sure, I have a mirage cup on an fto drive in my car but it could be the 25 spline drive. I only found out there's different type fto drives.

The guy doing the swap for me said that the cv joint from my drives are 2 big for the colt cups. so hoping that if I can get colt cvs they fill fit my drives, otherwise looks like new drives aswell.

Count the splines on your drives, if 27 then the mirage cvs won't fit.

Cool thanks,will find out tomorrow and go from there.do u have colt inner cvs or 25spline fto? Also if I have to change to 25 spline drives will the outer be the same and still fit my hubs?

Lad who have sold You the box should have mention that U will need different inner CV joints!

Have You 1.6 Flywheel and clutch too?

Yes that would of been handy.yes have everything else I needed bar these cv joints.

Wel I bought hole lancer drives for the cv joints.cant make a mishmash of parts so does anyone have 25 spline fto shafts with outer cv joints for sale on here by any chance??? Dont need the cups just drive's and outer cv's.
Why did I have to have 27 spline shafts I could be on the road now.more waiting it is.

Are auto drives the same as manual? 25 spline auto drives should suit my setup I am presuming...

Yea all 25 drive shafts will suit, regardless is auto or manual.

Was Your old gearbox manual? Is it that bad?

Perfect thanks.there is a breakers in dub that have an auto for breaking.another guy is breaking one on done deal but hasent been answering his phone the last 2 days my old gearbox had a very noisy clutch release bearing and would constantly pop out of fourth.got very anoying after awhile.would need a rebuild.

Just so everyone knows,I will be selling 2 27 spline driveshafts minus outer cvs.perfect clutch pressureplate and flywheel,the gearbox will need a rebuild as pops out of fourth but otherwise the sincros are fine.would all be good for a manual conversion for someone maybe?

Also if thats 95 tip Mivec in dublin that has 27 splines cv joints.

Is your fto with ABS?

Damn thought that would be the case.Gerry on here might have something for me hopefully.no my fto doesent have abs,just the way I like it.i find abs tends to take away from driving.driver aids

Fuuuuuck!!!! Bad news im afraid guys my my mechanic is a retard an aparently cant count.tels me I have 27 spline drives, so I buy 25s obviously thinking as they have different inner splines an will fit the colt cv joints but noo.i already have 25 spline shafts so now I have 2 sets of 25 spline shafts that dont work. .so now I no it is 27 spline shafts that connect to colt cv joints if I am not mistaken?
Anyone have any or willing to swap for a set of 25s?
This conversion cant really get much more agonising for such a simple job

Wow.just wow. thank you Seb! A lot of heartache was saved. She is now back on the road and better than ever.such an amazing difference the 1.6 rs box makes! the car is a different beast all together. Canot wait for dry wether were I can stop spining wheels and really get to grips with it.cannot recommend this modification enough to anyone considering it.just do it you will be amazed!
