Fuel Prices

Postby Dave » Wed May 19, 2004 9:43 am

anyone else a bit pissed off lately with the price of petrol?
3 weeks ago i was paying 87.9 and today i paid 96.7 and i've seen quite a few places looking for 100.9, i know the price per barrell has gone up but there's no way that it's costing the big boys that much per litre they sell, any opportunity to make more profit!!

especially when you think that a large portion of the fuel price is gov tax.... it acutally makes me sick, particularly when I think of VRT as well.

It used to be in this country that we paid VRT on the cars but this was ok because we paid less for petrol (especially when compared to the UK). But now we're paying more for insurance and car tax, more for cars and more for petrol. When does it end.

I'm going to hassle my local MEP candidate about the VRT - isn't it supposed to be outlawed by the EU???

yeah but if they outlaw it you're guaranteed that they'll just put some other spin on it! and you'd be surprised, the petrol guys are still making alot more money as well, not just the gov!!

I was surprised to find that petrol back home is actually cheaper than here in the UK. I'm paying 85.9 pence sterling for a litre of Optimax. The normal unleaded stuff is about 80.5 pence.

Having said that, insurance and tax are so much cheaper it's a joke. And the cost of living. And beer. God, I'm never going home am I?....
