Rev counter, help please

Postby Syn » Mon Sep 15, 2008 2:19 pm

My rev counter doesnt work, the guy who had the car before said it died slowly, working sometimes and sometimes not. Ive taken the clocks out and cleaned the circuit board but made no difference, it sits properly against the connectors so that isnt the problem. Ive read that you can use a multimeter to test the connections to the back of the clocks which enables you to see if any of the sensors arent working but i dont know how to do it. I wanted to test this and if all sensors are ok then i'll buy a new speedo because it must be the board at fault on the speedo but obviously dont want to do that if not neccessary. Can anyone tell me how to do the checks on the sensors please???

Ok ive found a post on these forums about the IFS. Checked mine the way it says here...

How to check if IFS is u/s.......using a multimeter....

1. Remove clock console to reveal 2 multi-pin plugs. Start
engine.
2. Looking at the left plug (C05) locate pin 18 (bottom row 5
in from left-white wire)
3. Set multimeter to read more than 5V. Put +ve probe to this
pin and -ve probe to earth. (Use bolt in centre of console
recess for convenience)
4. If multimeter does not read 5V then the problem is IFS or
wire from IFS to dial console....

Mines reading 4.21 volts at most, would u say this is the problem then ???
