No Warm Air

Postby Dilogoat86 » Fri Jan 08, 2010 5:49 pm

So I've had this issue for a week or so now and I'm slightly baffled. The air doesn't get warm in the car anymore. I have it on 32 on full and it's not even a little warm. Coolant is full, engine/water temp is just below middle (normal from experience?) and there's no leaks inside the car. It's like there's no water in the matrix. What's the easiest way to test things without removing stuff if that's possible?

Should I replace the thermostat?

Colm, I'll give that a shot when I'm in the car later.

Also, the aircon isn't on the car anymore. The pump is still there but the hoses are off and it's never on.

Has the heater matrix been bypassed by any chance? Is the flexible temp pipe at the rear of the climate control unit plugged in correctly?

That pipe is a dose of a thing to get on properly if the gauges are being taken out. Presume thats the one you're on CJ? The white one? Could see it very easily falling off it wasn't on properly in the first place.

Its black, I find that wrapping a layer or 2 of electrical tape around the dash connector helps it to stay in place once you push the upper pod back in place.

shouldn't affect things either way as there'd be air coming out the side vents too. the temp of the air seems to be the issue

Refilling the aircon gas won't make a difference. I've no gas in mine and the heating works fine. Aircon is for cooling.

Oh maybe its black ya, can't rightly remember now. The one I'm on about seems to have an effect on the digital temperature readout, that when you put the temp up or down it doesn't make a difference to the temp of air coming out, so maybe I'm on about a different one.
