Guys, FYI. Depending on take up, there could be some savings to be made in terms of clubbing together on orders from Camskill (I know you'll like this one Mustang ;)), tyres are a good bit cheaper over the water so there would be some savings to be made on that front.

### Something that might interest you ###

Mike runs the parts side of the business and i run the tyre & wheel side.

We have now got a tyre section to our website with over 900 tyres in it.

I am in negotiations at the moment for better shipping prices to Eire.

I need these better prices for the tyre thing to work.

As a result of this i am hoping to get the shipping costs down for the parts also which should help you guys.

The tyres in the UK have the delivery price included. The tyres to Eire will carry a carraige surcharge but this i am trying to minimize. Where it helps is that if someone wants some tyres they are paying the carraige for the tyres ; then we can fit other goods in the middle of the tyres and you will not pay any extra carraige - unless it is heavy, but even then the initial carraige is covered by the tyres and the extra is at a £/kg rate so that 40kg for example is not twice the price of 20kg it is less.

If alot of you get together i can look at a pallet rate which should be cheaper again - something like oil would be good on a pallet because it is heavy.

Let me know what you think ???

Kind regards

Scott

CJ just stumbled across this one (in case you thought I was on silent protest)
A group shipping rate would be great. A 'club' discount rate would be even better  :)
It's a nice idea, but in reality I think getting people together, especially to buy large items (worthy of using a pallet) could prove difficult.
But anything that drives down the cost of FTO ownership is welcome. Maybe another dextron III group buy is in order :!:

PS. On the Dextron III issue. Camskill are selling at €5 a litre, and it's close to €10 a litre locally... I am impressed by their prices. Considering an 8L tip box oil change, there's some serious savings to be made.
I've been looking at other suppliers of discs and pads, as well as other 'stuff' and camskill seem to be consistently cheaper. (No anti-camskill sentiments here  )

In fairness, they're hard to beat on a lot of items, some can prove more costly however, so its advisable to shop around. I got a full set of shocks off them last week (being fitted next week ;)) and I paid 25% less than the best local quote, and that includes postage. I was very nearly going to buy locally as I didn't think Camskill could match the price but I was plesently surprised. Combined with excellent customer service (something we're seeing less and less of these days) and keen pricing, Camskill are top of my list for FTO-specific parts. (Lots of pro-camskill sentiments here  )

I'm not saying that Camskill are the be all and end all of parts suppliers, people should shop around. From my perspective, they've saved me a lot of money over Irish suppliers over the past 4 years or so, thats one of the main reasons why I've stayed loyal to them.

CJ,

What are our chances of getting a FTO Ireland club discount ?- this would help ensure loyalty to camskill - I have spent a fair bit of money with them - but I've also spent a larger amount with their competitors.

As these cars are getting older the market for these guys is going to increase substantially. It will help them grow their business on this side of the pond and we'll get cheaper parts - RESULT :)

Camskill don't offer the UK FTOOC a discount so I'm unsure if they would entertain our small community. They do have items on special that they offer to club members (current one is a full set of shocks with Apex springs for £319) every so often. I can mail them and see what there take on it is.

I ordered a couple parts from them and asked for them to be sent direct to Colin at CMS. Drove to CMS and the parts turned up at my house (50 miles away) an hour after i got to CMS.

Anyway I had to drive home, pick up the bits and drive back to CMS. Mike in Camskill very kindly refunded me for the parts (freebie) then paid my petrol money.

I also got 10% off next purchase. Can't say fairer than that.

Not to mention, Colin at CMS actually waited until I got back and did the job for no extra money.

Just thought I'd drag up this old thread to post some pro Camskill propaganda.
I ordered a set of steering rack gaiters on Wednesday morning, and they arrived at my house Friday morning  I paid for standard mail only. This is exceptional (although some credit must go to the Royal mail/ An Post).
