Cat bypass... whats the deal?

Postby adrian » Fri Feb 29, 2008 8:12 am

Hey all,

I know my GPX has a cat bypass done, but what exactly does this give? Did I read somewhere that you may actually be down on power with the bypass done?

Any info appreciated.

Thanks

Theres less back pressure in the exhaust with a bypass fitted so you loose a small amount of torque low down. The bypass comes into play above 4k where power gains are achievable. The engine will rev easier and expel exhaust gases quicker. Bypass pipes where made for MIVEC!
