Does this worry you?

Today I was stopped for 45 mins on the N2. No one knew why until we saw 2 fire brigades followed by a traffic corps guard saying something on his PA that I couldn't understand in his 'whatever' accent.

Traffic finally gets going and while trying to avoid glass on the road I saw the remnants of what happened... frightening, like, nothing left, there is no way in hell anyone walked from that...

So does this worry you? It gets to me all the time, I know you have to live your life, but every time I go on long journeys I say a quick please and thank you prayer when I leave and arrive at the destination. Like, I don't worry I'll be killed off a horse, or crossing the road, which are also likely. The stupid crap I see on the roads everyday, esp. with regard to overtaking, the near misses I have from mickey on the road who don't know how to drive...

Then you see things like this from the past few months?! :

http://www.rte.ie/news/ireland_road_index.html

Ireland is an officially scary place to drive...

I'm just worried about how many idiot drivers on our roads have taken innocent lives... If they die and they were messing then I have no sympathy, it's the poor person on their way home from work, the mother on the way to school with the kids, that I worry about... :(

When travelling across the country last Sunday evening, there was a driver 4 or 5 cars in front of me (Focus 1.4) who was overtaking cars even when oncoming traffic was coming straight at him. I couldn't believe how irresponsible he was. His driving was so badly judged that when there actually were opportunities to overtake, I managed to end up behind him. After Mountrath when we got to the motorway he was doing just under 120kmph.

I've seen this happen a number of times on the N7, overtaking into oncoming traffic and forcing them to swerve into the hard shoulder.

I'm not a completely slow driver, but I don't think I take risks like these. there's a time and place for being brave IMO.

Stupid people taking stupid risks and potentially killing others.

Yes it worries me..I can't believe that nobody has given the driving-education system an overhaul yet...nevermind drink driving - death through sheer stupidity seems much more common.

Yes it worries me to. I see this kind of thing all the time on the N4 going to work in Garrick on Shannon from Sligo.

:smt084 I am always giving out about how people drive, they don't seem to have the basic driving skills needed to drive safely.

Like round abouts and double and single white lines in the road.

enough giving out for today.

I know, this kinda driving seriously pi$$es me off. If you're stuck in a line a traffic, you may as well try to relax and enjoy it, rather than trying to make up 20 yards every couple of minutes, and making driving hard for everyone, cos we've to watch out for these a$$holes.
I learnt a great lesson when I was about 17 and getting a lift from Mayo to near Dublin. I was in a car where the driver was fairly pushing it, and possibly takin a few chances, and at the time it felt like we made it in great time. Then I guy we had been slaggin cos he's the opposite, a bit too slow of a driver, arrived less than 5mins after, over a 3hour trip!!! Something thats always stuck with me, never worth the risk!
