SPEEDO

Postby StewyD32 » Mon Oct 25, 2010 3:03 pm

Hey gang.
My speedo isn't working now. It was fine yesterday, but then I was driving last night the needle went up and down for a few seconds then went dead.

-I took the dial unit out and checked the connection in the back, and it seems fine.
-I checked all the fuses (for some reason)
-Also checked the speed sensor at the gearbox (well that I think is the speed sensor) to see if the connection was ok, and it seems fine. Is the picture below the speed sensor. Its directly under the air filter pipe

Does anyone have any ideas.
Im stumped :smt076

Hi Stewy,a friend of mine had the same problem with his FTO,well, similar problem, all meters were working fine, but the speedometer one wasnt working.
So i asked him and he said he sorted his problem with the speedometer changing the "Ignition sensor"(?),i dont know how to say it in english,he said that after changing that all worked fine again.
Sorry about my english, just trying to help.
I'm spanish, sorry if my english is so poor,i learned it at school when i was a kid and i forgot almost all of it lol

Your english is fine. Thanks for the reply, I'll look into the ignition sensor.
Anyone else got any ideas if this isn't correct

I also noticed the millage isn't being counted on the clock. Is that a good or bad thing

Fixed it, just a loose connection. Very hard to find the speed sensor when you ain't got a ramp
