I got petrol for €1.08.9 on my way home from work last night in the Apple Green station in Kinsaley. I was well pleased :D It's been a while since it was that cheap.

Some places dont seem to have dropped their prices at all. The Esso garage (50 yards) up from tescos edenderry is charging 116.9, 10 cent dearer and the funny thing is people are still using it. Madness!!

Maxol or Topaz? The latter would appear to be dropping in line with the other suppliers....

Just a Q about Topaz
I know maxol do 99oct, but on my receipt in topaz it said unleaded95.
So is it only some topaz filling stations that has 99, cos iv never seen them advertising it

They don't advertise the octane rating, their 'clean fuel' tagline refers to a 5% ethanol mix i.e. 99RON give or take, theres a quote from a Topaz employee on the forum in the seme vain, SIYF ;)

Maxol. That's the only place I fill up.

I stupidly filled up at Topaz one day and I was very sorry. I know ye are all going to argue, but sorry, they are both just notthe same.

Car wouldn't run right on it and took 2-3 fills of maxol to get it back on track. Felt like the time when I filled it with tesco crap when I was stuck one day.

I know a few months back it was only leinster topaz stations that had E5, I'd have thought it would be country-wide by now.

'Dirty petrol' perhaps? I've heard of engines being pulled out of cars due to this 'phenomenon'.

FWIW, I never really noticed a difference between using old SUL, 95 and E5 in an FTO in terms of running characteristics or performance. I do notice an increase in ecomomy when using E5 be it Maxol or Topaz fuel. I used to out of may way to get E5 in the RX-7 due to the fact that it produced less knock on boost (far more important than performance or ecomony considerations when you're taking turbos).

I use my local Tesco filling station exclusively for no other reason than they're consistently the cheapest. My car is jdm so by rights should be run on super unleaded 97 RON, Tesco don't offer super unleaded in Norn Irion. Ive never had any bother with the fuel at Tesco.

+1 too. Haven't really noticed change in performance, but then again I just tip to work and back. maybe a track car would notice more easily. but I defo do see 10 - 15% increase on economy. I'm pretty certain of this.
Also, I cleaned my air filter 2 weeks back and I think this has further improved my economy/performance. That might be just in my head though. either way its probably good to clean it once every while. hadn't cleaned it (K&N panel) in 2 years.
