Finally got one!

Postby Mustang » Tue Jun 08, 2004 9:25 am

Collected my car on Saturday. Was determined to get a GPX tip or manual. Had more or less settled on the tip as the prices for manuals seem to be extortionate, regardless of condition. So after weeks (felt like months) of travelling around the country kicking the tyres of the type of cars that were really only suitable for field use (often with silly price tags). I came across a very clean '97 steel silver manual GR and decided that was the car for me. Sweet. :D Don't have it insured yet, going to have to wait another month :(

Guess that question was inevitable. No, it's the older shape. But there is a drivers airbag -don't think the earlier cars have one :?: and the 'half mast' button for the ariel, which I thought was only fitted on the GPX :?:

I've seen that on a GS, so maybe was an option extra on non GPXs?

Congrats on the car by the way!

You won't be dissappointed with a manual GR-trust me. Your story of travelling the country brings back memories for me a year ago!

Strange :? a 97 should be a facelift, i guessing it must be a very early 97 to still be a preface lift, as reguards airbags i have them in my 95 red one and not in the black one so i'm guessing it was an optional extra on early models.

If you want a really easy way to check the month and year the car was made, as opposed to when it first was sold/registered it's stamped on a small white tag at the base (where the belt is bolted to the ground) of each of the original safety belts.

Or another way is to stick your chassis number into CAPS :)
