Remote control exhaust!

Postby Bernard » Thu May 21, 2009 9:14 pm

Spotted this on youtube, I would have thought a switch inside the car would have been easier.

Handy if the cops pull you over, no visible switch!

I'm thinking I might get an ECV to shut off the left side pipe on my blueflames, just for giggles I blocked off one side and the car was so much quieter at cruising speeds.

sounds like a V10 when it switched to loud mode, I'd imagine the remote would work from inside the car. A little over engineered IMO a hard wired switch would be so much simpler.

Sure how would they know what the switch was for?

Hmmm, not a bad little idea is it, especially if that new stupid ruling from our fascist government comes in about the exhaust noises and dB levels. I reckon the remote would work from inside the car too, my remote start works from 150 yards away so this would prob be around the same type of system I'd imagine.

What you got Martin Clifford or Viper? how often and what sort of scenarios would you use remote start? Just got a viper cat1 2 way pager system with proxy sensor.

Dont know what type to be honest, bought it off steelroe couple of years ago, its an old school one with an aerial. Pretty cool.
Used use it every morning before I went to work, turn it on before I went in for a shower, the car would be well warmed up for when I'd go out to it then. Mivec warmed up and everything.
Oh and it was great for scaring the bejaysus out of little kids and people who used be nosing around it and stuff in shopping centres etc. :D

I used to do the same on my last FTO, had a Clifford G5, the range was amazing on that yoke, could activate it in the Dundrum car park even when I was in the floor above in the shopping area, great for warming up the interior and waking up the MIVEC :)

you can get an old fashioned Apexi ECV for under 100 quid.

which, to be fair, is a lot for what it is

Bought one of these for the Zed - think it will be an essential part of any modified car in Ireland once the DB laws come into play.
