Aftermarket seats

Fitted the new seats last week.

Didn't go down the leather re-trim route as it seems quite a bit of work and I like my seats more supportive than standard. May not look as classy but it gives a nice race look.

Looks good, were they awkward to fit (custom rails?) or did they go on easy enough?

Did you do something with the back seats too or are you leaving them standard?

Used the Universal subframes and a mate of a mate who was handy with a welder.

Leaving the back seats as is - You can't actually see them with the tinted glass. They are actually out in the shed at the moment along with some carpet/spare wheel/some ICE and toolkit - I'd say I took about 60kgs out of the car at the weekend - the car really sounds and feels a lot better stripped of as much as possible.

I like these seats a lot -

IMHO this is a better option as the standard seat isn't that supportative (NOI to anyone).
- I only learnt that after spending time in the golf's recaros (everyone who sits in them comments on how good they are which is something that didn't happen with the FTO..

Looking good MfFTO 8)

Its also a cheaper option - €500 for the 2 recliner seats - they are very similar in look and feel to the Sparco Torinos.

Good choice of colours - there was also a leatherette version (didn't like) - ordered from a motor store here in Shannon though I saw quite a few suppliers of similar seats at the show in Limerick yesterday for very similar money. Price included Universal frames which fitted ok with a little help from a welder though I would say you would have an easier job fitting the seat if you got the correct subframes from Sparco etc - would likely cost you an extra 60-80 euros.

Looking really good MfFTO, the finish fits in well with the rest of the interior.

For those of you considering going down the aftermarket seat route - you won't go wrong at this money.
