Light Bulbs

Postby Masa » Tue Jul 15, 2008 7:32 am

Hi there,

I've notived that one of my lights bulbs os dead.
It's not the biggest one but the midle one ( in power I mean, don'y know if I'm clear :p ).

Do you know what's the reference and if I can find it in Halford ?

The way to replace it is to take out the whole "light box" , change the bulb and then replace the box ?

I assume you mean the dipped headlights Masa? The lights you would have on in traffic at night. Very simple to replace but you should think about upgrading to HIDs while you're at it!

front and yes I it's this one.

What's HID and how much does it cost ? If it's better and not too expensive yes I can change both :)

All I need is a ref and if I can find it in Halford or wehre :)

HIDs are very strong lights that are normally blue or white that are replacements for the dipped headlights. Can't get them in Halfords though. You can get them on Ebay and I think Camskill stock them too. They are widely available on the internet anyway. I got mine for E80 delivered. They are well worth the money much better than the regular bulbs. Do a search on the site but if you do buy them make sure you get the whole conversion kit and not just the bulbs!

Ok So I'll do it but later ;)

I don't want to drive with one bulb missing while waiting for the parts to come :)

But if it's 80 for the bulbs, delivery and conversion it's quite ok so it should be worth it soon.

thanks for the answer, I'll check the forum for the ref of the normal ones.

Go to that link and you will see the HID difference to the normal bulbs. The bulbs I got were 9006 (model) and 6000k (temperature). The 8000k are more blue rather than white. And the prices vary a little too Masa so shop around. I seen some for well over E200 but they're all the same thing.

And the fitting for the regular bulbs if you want a replacement until the HIDs arrive is HB3 I think. Could be HB4 either... The two look the same but one is for the beam headlights and the other is for the dipped headlights. The ones you want have small tips on the top of the bulbs.

If we going to use the HIDs, I think that it could be right decision to use it. This is the bulbs that have a high beam. And then, we can sure that it was totally awesome light bulb.
