Those spuds are there for even weight distribution - it gives a nice tail hapy RWD feel to the car - It would only upset the balance if I was to unload them. You're rock hard scones should be a fairly appropriate trade though. :lol:

@ mustang, at the monent there is only me, as I dont want to flood your rolling road day with irishmoc crew, so im going to organise a separate rolling road day for irishmoc in the upcoming months,

Ronan - You're setting the bar fairly high - to be honest though we should probably be talking about BHP at the wheels here as that is the most accurate figure they can give. Your car will only be as fast as whats going down on the road anyway.

I'd say I'll have about 150-160BHP at the wheels allowing for an approx. 20% loss on the 197BHP flywheel figure. I'll stick my neck out and say 156BHP at the wheels - if I have my tappets sorted in time it might be a little more.

On this subject - I'd love to know the at the wheel figures of many of the new hot hatches in comparison to an FTO GPX - the manufacturers claims are all flywheel figures.

The Tiptronic skyline had something crazy like a 90bhp transmission loss :shock:

Hadn't really thought about it, :roll: I was just going along for the tyre kicking. But if anyone was going to throw down the gauntlet it would be MyfeckinFTO.

GR std output 170PS. 1PS =0.98632BHP =>167.6BHP @ flywheel, running on 100 RON. Take say 3% for effect of using 95 RON (purely a guess!)
Gives 162.5BHP @ flywheel.
Take say 10% for transmission loss + a further 5% for general wear and tear gives me a figure of 138BHP at the wheels.
However that said this would appear to be down compared to previous results. Speedy's moded GR stacks up quite well against Daz's GPX.

No idea, I'd be purely guessing! Never gone on a rolling road and lots of factors involved...

I dunno where last times figures are but I'd imagine it'll hardly be much different?

Hmm- quite a good result from Daz considering he had no obvious mods like exhaust / filter / decat etc. 163.4BHP at the wheels on a standard GPX manual - I'd like to think that an ITG + Decat + S/S RSR exhaust + Denso Iridiums on a Manual GPX would give an improvement on that figure - It would put a rather large perspective on aftermarket parts on the FTO if my GPX Manual with the above mods came in at less BHP than Daz's car. :?:

octane booster has to be used anyway to get 100 octane...ill be filling up with super unleaded and then 2 bottles of octane booster giving 4 points increase..ill be on 101 octane then..

I tend to use 98 fuel anyway - so I'll probably stick with that for the rolling road - An octane booster that would bring the 98 fuel up to 101 RON would probably add 3-5BHP.

Why do some Texaco garages have 97 unleaded for sale and others a couple of miles away have 98 unleaded for sale? Is there really any difference between these fuels?

Be careful on that note, a lot of octane boosters quote 'point' increases, where 1 point = 0.1 BHP.

The quality of octane boosters can vary quite a bit.

I have found Silkolene Pro Boost to be the best of the Octane Boosters I have used - not cheap though. They claim between 1.5 to 3 RON increase depending on fuel characteristics - that should be good for a few BHP.

Quite a few places in Limerick stock it - varies from €10-€15 per litre.
Don't know where you'll get it in Dublin - try ringing the usual suspects to see if they have it in stock.

You won't get more than 35litres of fuel treated with a full litre of Silkolene either if you want a 3% increase in RON.

BTW - you will probably need to run the car on the new fuel mix for a bit before putting it on the rollers as the ECU needs to adjust to the fuel mix -or else reset the ECU (disconnect the battery for 20mins). If you just slap in a can of booster before putting it on a rolling road you may not see any gains - hence why I'm sticking to 98 fuel.
