Do not touch with a barge pole -

Their blurb goes along the lines of -

"It will modify any standard ECU by telling the ECU that the incoming air in the intake system is cold and so advances the ignition to compensate producing more power. In many cases fuel economy is increased too. Power is increased by up to 15BHP and torque is increased significantly.
It will be more responsive and you WILL LIKE IT"

HaHahaHa! - "you will like it"

So basically they are saying that they are overfueling the engine by fooling the Mitsubishi ECU into believing the air coming through the induction is colder than it actually is - problem here is you risk pre-ignition and having your valves come out through the engine so I'd say its probably not a good idea to add this - and I can say with confidence that theres no way you'd even see anything like an extra 15bhp before your engine went bang!

Definitely the chaviest mod I've ever seen - its just a basic resistor for 10GBP - Robbery even discounting the damage you'll do to your engine.

Theres no shortcuts when modifying an FTO!

You learn the hard way zacob ;) FWIW, I wouldn't put it near an FTO ECU.

Could you cancel the payment - I'd say this is close to false advertising. Apart from the fact there is no way this thing will give you any power gains there is also no way fuel economy could improve. And (as MfFTO said) you would risk damaging your engine via pinking - even if you lose your money (not that much) I'd still hassle the crap out of the guy cause what he's selling is a pile of crap!

I just posted a question via ebay to the seller - basically asking will this not potentially cause damage to an engine by causing pinking/knocking as a result of over-fuelling.

Be interested to see if I get any reply.....

Reading back through the guys feedback, a number of people have said that theres a quote on the packaging mentioning that the product can damage the engine, another guy said it screwed up his air temperature sensor.....

Trust me these do not work

Postby alloywheelsinternational » Tue Jul 12, 2005 10:31 pm

i had purchased one of these before and i blew the ECU on a Vectra.
stay away but sure you get what you pay for.
better puting an extra £150-200 for a decent upgrade.
either way if you fit this you could end up with a bigger bill than that.

keep away from it........ sounds like a crock of crap to me.

dont mind what the adds say, it proven that chips give " AT BEST" 10% power increases in a nornally aspirated engine, but the fto .... especially the mivec engines have shown increases of only 8 bhp therefore ( <4% ) and all this is from a good chip,

you'd pay 300 -500 euro for a proper remapping/chip. but the good thing about chips is that they offer solution to all other upgrade, such as smoothing out flat spot etc
