calculating now.
Car = 1570
Customs = 10% of cost price = €157
VRT = €791
VAT €371

Total price =2889

Expensive tiptronic FTO in my opinion, especuially when you consider it'll need a timing belt €300, service €300 stereo @ €150, alarm @ €200, 4 tyres @ €350 and NCT @ €50 bringing the real world price to €4239

The price is calculated on the car & shipping, as are the import taxes.

As for whether I think it's good value, No. In my opinion it's huge money for a 96 automatic that you haven't seen or driven, there are loads of cheap FTOs already in the country, the unfavourable exchange rate, increased VRT and VAT, and the recent collapse in Irish used car prices make importing anything but the rarest, newest, or incredibly equipped FTO unfeasable.

Have a to agree with Colm on all points here, importing an FTO at this point in time just doesn't add up. There are a couple of cars for sale on this site and past experience would dicate that new ones will be advertised as time goes on. If possible buy from an enthusiast who has looked after the car, theres no reason why you can't have piece of mind and value for money.

If its coming from outside the EU, (ie Japan), theres an extra cost of 10% of the total cost of the car, VRT, and VAT, its the excise duty charge.

Be aware that both VAT and VRT rates have gone up (to 21.5 and 36% respectively) since the calculator added.
