Postby Marie » Thu Oct 04, 2007 2:37 pm

Ment to say earlier lad's remember the spark plug tool's ye were telling me about at the meet! Was messing around last night with the booth seeing could I fit a dead body in it like, as you do ha...
But I found the tool stuck down under the carpet! The old owner must have went to the bother of buying it!
So to get to the point! Who want's to fit the plug's for me? I got you the tool like????

Only JOKING!!!

no we're not. and we're not gonna play on the word "tool". that's just silly.

On a serious note, if the previous owner had the tool for the job, he may have recently changed the plugs.

I too will not comment on scoring ad using tools in the back of the car.. Or checking under the bonnet..

but it might be an idea to remove 1 spark plug to verify the condition it's in..

I had the spark plug tool in the tool kit of both my previous FTO's so I would have imagined it was part of the original toolkit - I wouldn't presume that to mean the plugs have been recently changed.

If I had just bought an FTO and had no history on the car I would start by changing the plugs and cambelt/water pump as a matter of course.

I think ye scared Andrew out of changing them tho with all ye'r talk of manafold & talking in number's? ha ha...
Will just drop it up to the guy who changed the brake pad's & get him to do it. Only remember all the spark plug's were the same? Will they do? I am going to servis the car every 6 thousand mile's anyway!

Marie, whats the model of the plug? You really should put long-life platinum plugs in the rear bank, removing the manifold every year to change 3 plugs a big headache, your mechanic will love you for it!

IK22s Denso Iridium are the best. They will last 60,000km and can be got on ebay for about 10euro each including shipping.

eBay is dangerously addictive... my feedback score is 500 .. and I'm forever buying stuff I don't really need...

It's really handy for car bits though...

That's a different grade Denso plug.. lower grade :-) but then as far as I know the Iridiums (IK22) are top of the range (anybody correct me if I wrong)...

it's not a massive big deal - but if you're having it done you might as well..
