Servicing

Postby Bernard » Tue Aug 14, 2007 7:51 pm

I plan on getting the car serviced soon, it's due a cambelt change (nearly 100K).
I've got the wiper blades plus the following in my basket at camskill, am I forgetting anything?
Cam belt kit.
Oil filter.
Fuel filter.
Spark plugs.

I though there were different plugs for the back and front but there doesn't seem to be on camskill?

The suspension seems fine, just too hard and low for Irish roads, but it's adjustable.

Cheers for the advice.

Yes, if you go for standard plugs. The front 3 were standard plugs (i.e change at each service) while the rears were platinums (change every 60k) duie to the fact that theres a bit of work in changing the rears (removing plenum + ancillaries).

I would suggest you also get a manifold gasket in the event that the existing one rips when you remove the plenum.

Check front and rear pads for wear.

I'd recommend the Denso Iridium Plugs if you're going changing anyways..

Do a quick search on the forum for them - as far as I remember you need the IK22 s all around.

Bernard - Do you have someone to service the FTO? - my mechanic knows them inside out.

I've always gone to Wards in Kildimo but it'd be nice, especially for a big service, to go to someone who knows them well. Pass on the details, cheers.

Get a new water pump especially if you're going to the trouble of a new t belt, a new belt and tensioners could put more strain on an old pump and then it could go!
