More damage

Postby CJ » Fri Nov 11, 2005 12:56 pm

I left the car in the short term carpark in Dublin Airport for a few days while working abroad this week, I made sure that it was parked in such a way as to ensure I wasn't going to get a smack. Came back to car on Wednesday night, had a look around it, all good...hold on, some flute has smacked off one of the rear quarter panels! :smt091 I'm sick to death of getting pranged in car parks by people who either can't drive or couldn't care less. As far as the airport is concerned, I'll be getting taxis in future, the wifes Fiesta will be used to go to the shopping centre and I'll be getting the bus to work. The FTO will be brought of the driveway on the odd Sunday afternoon (wrapped in cotton wool of course!)

Car Parks are where I've picked up the majority of damage on my cars over the past few years. Means a trip to the bodyshop to sort out a few panels every year - quite annoying to see how people just swing open their doors untill they slap off the car alongside. I saw a lady reverse into my FTO last week while trying to park - knocked the car back a couple of feet (handbrake on - out of gear). By the time I got to the car she had driven off to find another parking space away from the scene of the crime. :smt013

Jeez... you're having no luck with dents! Did the car park have cameras you might catch them on?

I note the reg of the cars parked beside me and behind/in front of me everytime I park in a car park - just pop it in the phone. Never had to followup on one but it's better than having no-where to go.....

Ya... I've never noted reg numbers but whenever possible I'll park at the end of a line so at most there'll be one car beside me. Having said that I'm not in shopping centre car parks much... wait 'til I have chez moi and that'll change quick enough though.

My first car had a dent on the back left from a shopping centre car park, my Xsara had a small dent where a door had been opened onto it (actually while at the bodyshop) but I've been lucky with the FTO so far.

Car parks ... Pah .... I had a Jag once that I parked in the high street in Henley in Arden ... Someone drove into the back of it infront of a pub full of people and then drove off. No one took the reg no ... and that was £3500 of damage.

I parked the FTO in Stratford on the road, right in the middle of town. Someone hit the rear panel again in broad daylight, only £300 of damage. No witnesses
So I dream of car parks .... I panic whenever I park on the road :(

If ever I see anything like that happen I take the reg number, car make and I leave a note for the driver of the car thats been hit with my details also

Soz to hear of that CJ btw :(

I always try to park next to nice cars...cause owners of nice cars are more likely to care about their own cars - and therefore no smack into mine..

having said that I'm considering hiring a hit-squad to look over my car whenever I'm in blanch..& take out the b-stards that do smack their doors into my precious..

Same here, but some people just dont give a sh1t - I remember hearing somewhere (could have been on this forum) that a neighbour once told someone something along the lines of " ...do you know that your car alarm goes off every time I hit your car with my door........" :smt021

BTW does anyone know anyone that specilises is dealing with these tiny dents - I asked CarCraft and they dont do it.
