The 'modifications you regret' thread

Postby CJ » Mon May 25, 2009 10:15 am

Many of us will have modified our FTOs in some way or another that in hindsight wasn't such a good idea. Share your regrets here!

I'll start:

I regret installing a rear strut brace into my last GPX (sorry Aido!), handling and body roll was pretty much unchanged and I had less usable space in the boot.

Putting those stickers on the back lights seemed like a good idea at the time. Took ages to get them only nearly right. Just as well they came off easily enough..!

No regrets about the Dragons though

apart from spraying the centre console on the old FTO blue, I don't regret any mods (that I can think of)

I'm 50/50 on the trumpet for the CAI, a little bling for my liking.
I think a can of black spray paint will sort it though.

A few things..

1. I regret fitting 100w fog lights.. Im now short a replacement fog light switch
2. I regret fitting 18" wheels..Fortunately I was able to sell them
3. I regret not having my fto sitting in my drive just now...In a way one could say that I've modified it away..

Wow - these are a MUST for me to stop the car looking its true age and bringing it into the current century.

(in my opinion) 18's kinda affect the handling and ride comfort. It also made me paranoid about potholes and kerbs

A wholehearted +1. 18's make for a very crashy and skittish ride, if you're going to upgrade, stick with 17's.

Oh yeah defo not doing anything positve for the ride with the 18s... looks alright...but you cant really see them while you're driving anyways... so..yeah..
