Postby steelroe » Mon Dec 06, 2004 11:35 pm

Does anyone know if car stereo's bought in the US will work here, or is it like the JAP one's requiring a band expander

Cheers

On the FM band they only give odd numbers so you miss out on a lot of radio channels, NOt sure about the band expander

You'll need to check if the stereo can switch between US and Euro frequency increments, I bought one in the states about two years ago that had this option.

It was an Aiwa, all you do is flip a switch on the rear, worked fine for me no problem. I'm not sure if all models have this function, you'd want to be check the spec on the manufacturers site to be on the safe side.

I have an Alpine 7897 stereo I got from the states and it works no problems. The only thing is it doesn't diaplay the name of the station, only the frequency.

Ya, I get that with my Sony though, ebay.co.uk purchase, any my brothers sonys are the same, maybe alpine don't show the station name either?

It was the same with my Aiwa from the states, maybe the Yanks aren't fans of RDS-EON?
