well if the standard GS caliper needed grinding you'll be needing some serious spacers to get the brembo calipers in there!

all you have to do then is buy a turbo kit from me and you'll have something a little special! :twisted:

the problem was the disc are to small on the gs so the calliper sits to close to the centre of the wheel, but with the bigger disc the calliper sits furrther out so will be sweet, what the turbo kit you got :roll: :twisted:

got the lambo doors from http://www.lambodoors.co.uk/

Not the first mod you'll want to do - Would recommend you start with alloys, springs, induction and exhaust. Then some styling mods like skirts, spoilers, clear repeaters, interior mods etc

Otherwise the lambo doors will look naff on a standardish FTO.

I'm actually an agent for RPW here in Ireland, in the process of fitting a turbo to my GS, granted it's taken a while but it's the first one and these things take time, plus there's been a few set backs along the way.

looking to increase power by about 50% and torque by about 80% so should be well able for the GPX's! that's all without changing the internals, if you wanted to spend serious cash and upgrade the internals and get a monster turbo and intercooler you'd be looking at near 300bhp!

i've brembos at home waiting to go on now as well!

was lambodoors.co.uk the crowd that bodged someone's car up already though?? meant to use crap hinges and what not!

Well, I'd see alloys, tints, induction, springs etc as a given!! 8)

My 2p on this subject

Thou 18's look great and one of the reasons i went for them, with the FTO also lowered it courners like on rails and you feel everything the road is doing but with 18's it has a tencency to tramline, when it comes to it i wouldn't put 18's on again i'd go for 17's just for that extra bit of comfort,

When I say I'm a girl, I mean that I don't know as much as u guys probably. Aferall, I have other things to concern myself with (ie hair, make-u, clothes etc...) But I do know the basics - I bought an FTO. If I didn't really know or care much, I'd have bought a 206 cabriolet like mum's! I want lambo doors too goddammit!!!!

lambos will cost a far whack and i don't know of anyone in the country doing them for the FTO, you could import from the uk but you'd still need someone to fit it and that alone would cost!

i think darren-o was trying to source someone!

Finally put new wheels on over the weekend 17" 215/45. The car handles a lot better and it fills out the arches just right. Gives the FTO a real good look. :D Next mod maybe some sideskirts.

Iv just bought 18 x 7.5 alloys with an ET42 but dont really want to pay for 225/35s as il only have the car for a few months.

Will 225/40s go on ok or would i be safer sticking to 205/40s.

I mite lower the car so am thinking the 225/40s mite be too big :?

Dave is running 225/45's on 18's and his car is lowered so I think you'll get away with it - don't worry about the rubbing sound - it will stop as soon as the tyre wears through your wheel arch liner! :lol:

Don't forget Dave is a gs the heaver lump of the v6 will compress more i'm lowered on 18's and found on 40 profile it would rub on full lock the only way around was a 35 profile but it ain't much protection on the rim.

fair point Daz, i still find i have rubbing on full lock though but i don't mind that because i found the wear on a 35 profile was poor (granted may have been the brand) and there wasn't any rim protection! i know i prefer to have them in order over some arch lining! :wink:

Dave you still rub on the 40 profile, i guess the weight difference in the engines isn't much :oops:

Hmm...35s are defo not an option :?

Wot about 205/40? wud they stretch over a 7.5" rim?

Something else you need to bear in mind is to try and keep the rolling radius of the new wheels/tyres combo as close to the original otherwise you're speedo will be out and you'll affect acceleration/gearing - I'm sure there are other potential problems with fitting wheels too far out from stock rolling radius (some say you can risk brake failure but I dunno how)

Check out:

www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

&

www.www.101tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

It looks like the best size for 18's on an FTO is 225/35x18's - next best is 205/40x18.

205/50x16 (stock)
--------------------------
RR (rolling radius) = 305.56

205/40x18
----------------
RR = 310.38
Speedo diff = 1.56% too slow, i.e. at 60mph speedo will read 59mph

215/40x18
----------------
RR = 314.45
Speedo diff = 2.9% too slow, i.e. at 60mph speedo will read 58.3mph

225/40x18
----------------
RR = 318.51
Speedo diff = 4.19%, i.e. at 60mph speedo will read 57.5mph

225/35x18
---------------
RR = 307.34
Speedo diff = 0.535%, i.e. at 60mph speedo will read 59.6mph

Shane, the 205/40s are better for rolling radius accuracy but im not sure if they will physically stretch over a 7.5" wide rim.

Il betr check with the tyre place before i order
