What a depresing Summer... now with pics

Postby GarLaf » Wed Sep 17, 2008 10:26 am

After a long dull and wet summer my GX has come out worse for wear.
It spent the whole summer a brown colour from the roadworks on the m50. The headlight lenses are yellow and I cant get the layers of tar and brake dust off the alloys. I cracked one of my facelift fogs which I had been ages looking for. To make matters worse I hit the rear passenger wing off the wall at home. It looks terrible. Time to use the credit card.
I started the refurb last week. Complete interior valet. Got that carbon stuff from Halfords and did the radio suround and dials panel. Looks great.
This week she is in for the wing repair and Im finally fitting the Hiro. Next week its the Timing belt and water pump.
By the end of October I hope to have the Dotz Hanzo alloys and painted calipers.
All in about €2500 but after the summer we had the winter could not be all that bad.
And yesterday the windscreen on the RX8 cracked!

Ah man - that doesn't sound like fun at all -

I take it you don't have windscreen cover on your insurance... defiantely get it as soon as possible.. it's well worth it..

Checked the policy, we have cover but there was a special edition rain repellent glass in the 8 which is only available in japan. I have to settle for a standard one instead.

A man after my own heart FTO and RX8 -I still want one.
Is it the 230bhp version? I'd be interested in your opinions on the car, and maybe a comparison between the two.

Well nearly there. The Guy did an amazing job on the Hiro and the rear wing. Im absolutely delighted with it. I Painted the calipers red its a lot more time consuming then you would think. I also did the headlights. Im really happy with it all. The only problem is she is really crying out for the new rims. Hopefully in the next few weeks. I will post pictures when I get a chance.

Its difficult, you need lots of patience and a a lot of time, I could kind of compare it to doing window tints.

I got them from KMC early 2007. I would have preferred the white version that I had in my old GR but he had none left. The latest white only come in MPH. I would swap with someone if they had the white ones
