apprently the driver of the Masser always takes 2 (sometimes 4!!!) spaces, and people working out in HP in leixlip are seriously p1ssed off. the girl who put the scoob in there is alocal hero around there now... lol

I park like this all the time at work (taking up 2 spaces). I already have a ream of marks on the car from peoples doors and a nice one from a bumper. There's always loads of extra spaces and I park at the far end of the car park (where there are no cars). After spending money on a paint job complainers can go f@*k themselves!
I park like this whenever I can these days cause people out there generally dont care what happens to other peoples cars.

Actually, between myself and another mate we only take up 3 spaces by parking together most of the time.

hey ikeane, I understand where your coming from alright. I detest door dings on my car. I had my FTO less than one week, and I as super careful sensitive about it. I parked it at the far end of a parking bay, totally empty for 2 hours when visiting a friend. when I came out there was a huge scratch on drivers door. tight down to undercoat. not a straight line like a keying, but a wavy line like someone was lifting a buggy or something out of the car and scratched mine. Drove me nuts.... Regarding parking across 2 bays, I don't do it, because I think it attracts negative attention. i.e. if people are driving around a cinema car park or a shopping car park or ar late for work and they cannot find a space and then see someone who thinks he has the right to use two spaces. Drives people bananas. but I suppose if its an empty car park it don't matter. I wouldn't risk it myself with my FTO as I think it would invite a keying from the wrong element. Mind you, Im not like that myself. Especially if I see a 100k + car parked in two spaces. usually the car is not wide enough for one space, plus, if I had a 100k car I would not be squashing it beside a micra.

Totally hear where you're coming from - I just shelled out 640 euro for bumper respray (chips + 3 scuffs from car park incidents), repair to one of the sills (my fault) and touch up (car parks again!) - cheap for what I got but the hassle of having the car off the road for 3 days is enough.

I normally look for an end space and park as close to he end/wall/etc as possible so to leave as much space as possible for the car on the other side. Doesn't always work unfortunately - the last bumper scuff happened after I'd left 3 foot between me an the car in front.

Now I take the reg of everycar I park beside - stick it in my phone - any damage and I'll call a mate in the garda for an address....

I wonder if you'd have any joy this way. Its a good idea for shopping centres etc, must do it from now on.

And yes - If I had a nice car..I would take up as many spaces as I liked..If anybody pulls me up on it I wont be too proud to tell them where to go park their own car either - just as long as it's not next to mine..

I agree, it drives me nuts. I never use 2 spaces regardless of what I'm driving (buses excluded). Another thing that drives me nuts is fools with no regard for other cars parked in the vicinity of their own. Unfortunately, door dings are part and parcel of parking in shopping centre car parks - people either don't care, have no sense of distance or are bereft of respect.

Bit of a rant there eh? Havin a nice car dosen't entitle you to park inconsiderately and occupying 2 spaces dosen't prevent anyone from parking beside you, only gets peoples back up as is the general consensus in this thread

Merely expressing an opinion..

Personally if I see a nice car taking up to spaces I don't park next to it.. Of course if it's a case that the place is packed I can understand why somebody would have issues (then the owner of the nice car perhaps should be considerate enough to park somewhere else)..

When I was younger, and more foolish, double parkers would have attracted either the sole of my boot, or a note to the windscreen as a means to express my disgust at their attitude

Now I just grumble "wanker" under my breath and move on with my life.
