question applies to the tiptronic gearbox, manual mode would be tiptronic

Manual gearbox drivers get less options!

I drove mine in auto mode on the forst day I got it, after that, it went into tiptronic mode every time.

kinda miss the tip box sometimes :(

I drive almost exclusively in Auto because it is mainly city driving. But I love the option of tip and occasionally use it when I want to get the best performance or just ahve a bit of fun.

I must say that I rarely used tip in the GPX (same in the VR-4), you get very lazy stuck in Dublin traffic day after day! I would normally slot into tip mode when overtaking.

As I understand it, its better for the 'box if you drive in tip mode more often, I can't remeber the reasoning behind this, let the brain racking begin...

I think the reason for using tip being better for the box than using manual is that the auto mode tends to change up gear, but isn't as inclined to change back down when the engine is running at low RPMs, regardless of your driving style. this puts strain on the box AFAIK

I remember my tip box would want to be in 4th at very low speeds.

Use tip a lot but believe it or not mostly for city driving! Love the noise of the engine as it coasts down from a high rev. But the tip is definetaly better when coming out of corners and off roundabouts, feels much quicker and much more reponsive. When in auto she comes off a roundabout in 4th, with the tip I come off them in 2nd, just for that extra boost.
