Wind proofing

Postby optical illusion » Sat Nov 08, 2008 9:49 pm

My windows are annoying the hell out of me as I can hear the wind coming through on both sides especially as I pick up speed. On the motorway it's really annoying... And god forbid if it's a sunny day and I've had them down and put them back up again, the only way to try to somewhat seal it off the noise is to open the door, and put the window up and down again.

Any way to combat this?

What a fantastic idea, I'll line the window in them...

You could ask CJ if these are still available.

Even with the deflectors you'll still hear it sometimes, its the frameless doors that cause it. Another common problem sometimes is when the window is half way down and if you're driving you can hear it rattling very slightly sometimes. I've gotten used to it but it worried me a bit at the start.

Thanks Bernard, I like the official name for them;

"Window Sliders or ANTI rattle thingies"

Is it difficult to fit them?

I don't know if they are what I'm looking for Ber, as the window isn't actually ratlling...

No Bernard was pointing them out for me Laura I think. What you should be looking for is deflectors, the piece that fits over the top of the door. Usually a black rubber strip that clips on, it might quieten it some bit but I dont think it'll cure it fully. Dont know if there is a way to do that.

The camskill link was for Martin, the deflectors are the rubber strips around the window, see below.

That's an old pic.
The first owner in England took them out in favour of a cold air feed. I got them in the post a couple of months after I bought the car.
