Postby colm_mcm » Wed Sep 23, 2009 11:13 am

Its been done a number of times over the years - good idea - only its a pain in the ar$e to take off and put back on the covers. I'd be more inclined to spend the time with some upholstery cleaner.

We have a valet station at work with an upholstery cleaner, but I reckon the machine wash would get them looking lovely. They're not particularly dirty or anything, just they were like new when I got the car and I want to get them looking that way again.

I'm off sick from work so have a bit of time on my hands. was just afraid they'd shrink or something.

Would tumble drying them be pushing it I wonder?

Be interested to see the outcome. Thought about doing my own. Not sure how much hassle it would be though
Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

I removed and washed the covers a few years ago on the GPX, to be honest, the difference was barely noticeable. Unless they're manky, I reckon you'd be better off with a wet\dry cleaner. If you tumble dry them, the inner foam covering on the side sections is likely to seperate from the outer material.

Seats stripped, passenger seat in the wash at the moment.

Pics to follow if anyone's curious as to what's involved?

Why not, I've always wondered how a washing machine worked but never got around to asking the wife
