FTO WONT FIRE HELP!

Postby versionr_nz » Fri Jun 13, 2008 6:15 am

hey all,

got a bit of a doozy, just replaced my cambelt on my car its a 97 version R, did all the bits got it together, took a while, and found that i had accidently ripped the wires from the cam angle sensor on the right bank, did a dodgy repair and my car turns over but it wont fire, think it might have been the alarm immobilising it, still looking into that but i have a feeling it might be the cam angle sensor, any suggestions?

I just want to drive it...... :( [/b]

I would go back and check the sensors around the cambelt cover area. It will not start unless both the cam and crank sensors are working.
Check the repair job you did on the cut sensor.

Are you 100% sure the cambelt was fitted correctly, if the timing is out by ven 1 tooth it will not start

yeah checked the cambelt like a million times its all lined up but unsure as to how to check the operation of the cam angle sensor, with all the cam sprockets lined up, on the crankshaft pulley it reads approx. 10 degrees after top dead centre, i looked at a manual and i think thats what it said it should be just need to be sure that it is or does it have to be top dead centre with the cam sprockets lined up.
