That's what I would like to do this year, but i'm being put off by motortax. I have been considering a crv 2L petrol, but I don't fancy shelling out another €710 on tax every year

I want to be able to drive the FTO when I like, so you're looking for insurance for that and the second car, buying a second car, taxing both, NCT for both and petrol for both. All that will add up to more than my insurance... And thats if I went with campion...

Same old, same old.

Rang everywhere, axa would quote this year but way too high.

Rang my current insurer and told them no way, so went TPFT for the first time and went up a euro from last year.

Not looking forward to next years quote.

Fed up with the insurance lark with this car. Unacceptable.
33 years old full license 10 years, 10 years no claims, and most are "unable to quote".
I could insure an M3 cheaper.

Hi Chris,
Still considering selling yeah, but realistically, who is going to buy it with the Tax and Insurance problems, not to mention 26-28mpg usually. And for how much would they buy it? 1500euro? no point in me giving it away for 1500-2000euro because I need to buy a new car with the proceeds. So essentially I'm stuck with it. I'd really need 3500-4000 from it to do a change to a newer car without it becoming too much of a financial pain in the pocket. It's a mint manual GPvR kept garaged for 5 years, but the market is not there.
The good thing is that the car is very reliable and has cost me nothing in the years I've owned it (accept normal servicing parts like timing belt and water pump). If I bought a new (second hand) car I might encounter things that need work or fixes. So I may just keep the car until its retirement. Might need to buy a new car regardless, but for 1500euro or so, I'd hold onto the FTO (as a second car) rather than give it away. Hope that makes some sense. Renewal should be in today. 640 last year so I'll see what it is this year.

€624 fully comp protected.
I wonder should I go third party. Im not sure if it has the same personal injury protection as fully comp though. fcuk it. paid up again. still I can transfer the policy and get refunded if I change.
