looking for ssr alloy

Postby paul2508 » Wed Sep 01, 2010 7:34 pm

im looking for a ssr type c alloy size 17". had a horrible bang the other day and one of my wheels are totally feck, being a lightweight alloy didnt help either . i had to swerve out of the way of a dog and turned toward a high kerb and bounced off it.i knew straight away i did something bad. got out to look and my heart sank. the wheels i have are immaculte ,not one scratch on them until this , i know its not repairable , im totally gutted. going around on a spare at the moment and its doing my headin. is there anywhere arouind that do replica ssr wheels , can only seem to find replica dealer brands. looking at few prices , nearly got sick. one wheel, ssr ssf type c alloy, not even in white(the colour im after) starting at 530 dollars. crazy money. i wish there was a place where you could bring a wheel and they could replicate it. i know it wouldn be a legit ssr alloy but it wouldn bother me in the slightest. even if i got one in a different colour i wouldn mind, just get it resprayed.
anyway, here is the horrible of the wheel

east coast alloys said they couldn help.
but i found this site and these wheels are "clones" of the ssr type c alloy, mentioned on few forums they are the nearest thing to ssr typr c's
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseUpServlet?target=wheelCloseUp&wheelMake=TRMotorsport&wheelModel=C2&wheelFinish=Black+Painted
they only do them in black ,grey and silver. which i dont mind . cany seem to get a price for a 17 inch but the 18 inch one costs only 169 dollars. which i think is great considering the price of a authentic ssr wheel. so in theory a 17 should be slightly cheaper . sent them an email for more details.
was thinking of going with black alloys as i have painted my AP Racing calipers yellow with bolts painted black. love the look of yellow calipers against black alloys. just hope the reply i get of these guys is good news (probably out of stock or something knowing my luck) :?

Looks identical to Rota Boost - http://www.rotarims.ie/alloys_sub2.asp?id=20 - you should be able to pick one up for a couple of hundred euro max.

actually had a look at these, the spokes are slightly thinner than the ones on my wheels also the lip is different. but this was the first wheel i thought of when thinking of where to look.

Then maybe have a look at a Rota "Grid" in a 17 inch rim - again very similar - perhaps you might consider buying two white Rota grids with an agressive rear offset and keep your SSR's on the front - would give a nice "drift" look - similar to what I've done on my Zed -
