Kace is at my desk!

Postby Wildhound » Tue Feb 09, 2010 3:25 pm

3 FTOs parked outside our building on John Rogerson's Quay today. Dilogoat went out to say hello to the driver of the one that doesn't belong to us, turned out to be Kace. He's practically parked on my desk it's that close.

Ha ! - tis indeed a strange sight to see 3 parked up so close - probably constitutes a mini-meet !

Any chance you could get out there and give her a bit of a rub-down for me - you can obviously vouch for the fact that her shoes are not the cleanest ;-)

By the way - I presume that you guys are using the http://www.parkingtag.ie to pay for your parking there - sweet system and saves running out every 5 mins.

Hehe, I can hardly say anything I've been so busy this month that the car has virtually changed colour. I reckon we're at a pretty similar filth level at the moment! I want to steal your seats though!

Just spotted parkingtag.ie about two weeks ago and haven't looked back. It works especially well when you're right beside the car because once you see a van coming you can just pay for twenty minutes :smt004 There's two free spots where I've got mine at the moment - they haven't gotten around to painting the road so there's no parking bay or double yellow.

Very sly indeed - I'll bet you're not the only one using your initiative in this way - I just hope you don't go to too many meetings and come back to a nasty clamping surprise.

Nice one - I'll have my beady eye on those from now on too !

There's another thing about that too. Dublin City Councel don't actually own this stretch of road yet. Still under the control of the Docklands Authority so techinically they can't clamp here. Secondly, that bay you're in Kace, isn't legitimate too. So if you do get clamped there you'd have a pretty strong case against them to get your money back.

Also, fancy a seat swap? Mine are nice...but yours are nicer :)

I'll do it on my way home tonight, I promise!

I've just been nervous/lazy about it because I put it through this snazzy wash at Texaco near the Spawell and it nearly took the wiper arm off! Fixed it though.

In my earlier years of motoring, I had one or two problems with automatic car washes damaging cars (which lead to a claim in one case - the wiper arm was ripped off which in turn damaged the bonnet and roof), I now avoid car washes like the plague. Its either bucket and sponge or dirty car for me!

yeah, I have never used an auto car wash on the FTO and never would. They normally buffet the wipers and spoilers too much on most sports cars. plus the strands of fibre that spin, even if they are like ribbon get old and worn and can damage the surface of the paint.
Plus I have heard of young lads tieing on nuts nto a couple of them one night. by the time you realise whats happening the side of yuor car is in a jock..

Well I definitely agree with you now! Though I must say I used that particular wash a few times on my old FTO and it came out sparkling with no problems at all. Annoying, it's a very good car wash but I don't trust it anymore. Back to the sponge I guess.

The brushless auto washes are class they have loads of high power jets that do the whole car without anything touching the car

I don't think anything can replace the 2 bucket wash system. Takes an hour or so to clear the car properly...but I must agree, that auto wash in Texaco is VERY good. Shiney wheels without missed spots anda full all over clean.

But it's a fancy one!! It literally pulls you through an American multi brush and rpessure wash style thing. It's pretty cool.

You know I read this thread the other day, but yet today I still went and put my car through an automatic wash.

And guess what happened?
Yep, ripped my passenger side wiper arm off and put a chip in my roof. It was like I jinxed myself.

Sickening.

Never ever again. :(

do not most of the automatic brush washes display a sign saying "not to be used with spoilers" which the majority of FTO's would have?

I would never never never use those things, they scratch the paint, risk of mirrors and spoilers and aerials coming off. And they dont even wash the car properly anyway. Sure they're cheap, but at a risk and half ar$ed job.

I wouldn't use this one if it didn't wash the car. It makes it sparkle and it comes out properly clean. They jetwash your wheels for you first and then you get pulled along through all the cycles. I used to just hand clean but it's too cold these days so this is my alternative.

There's one of those 'fancy ones' that pulls the car through in Lucan. I've used it on a good few occasions between hand washes. I find it good... far superior to the other type.
