Whiter than white sidelights?

Postby kevinod » Tue Feb 20, 2007 3:58 pm

Hey guys,

I'm wondering if anyone who got HIDs managed to sort out the colour match between the sidelights and HID lights themselves?

I'm after getting 2 different LEDs off ebay, first one was the wrong fitment, despite being advertised as FTO compatible  and the second one barely worked at all.

The sidelights at the moment are this kinda cream colour, and the HIDs are very white (6000K), meaning when I have the main beam on I have 2 different colour lights up front.

Anyone found some good whiter than white sidelights?

Kev.

Have you tried Ultraleds?
I've read good comments from people with the sidelights in the separate pods, about these
I had to use these metal ones cos mine are in the headlight unit and the plastic ones would melt.
I think the brightness and colour are similar for both types.

I think the size should be 501 for any model (mine are)

Haven't tried those, think I'll give it a go. My sidelights are in the pods on the front bumper so hopefully they'll be bright enough to light that up.

thanks!

Those leds arrived today, and I've installed them, nice and white and match the HIDs nicely! :D

Moral of the story - don't buy cheap LEDs from ebay!!!!

So now my sidelights and main beam match... looks sooooo much better. I wonder is there anything I can do with the headlights short of buying HIDs. :?

for the headlights I bought Osram Cool Blue from Powerbulbs, nice bright white with a touch, they go very well with the HIDs :)

oh and they sent me this discount voucher ;)

AND...a FREE set of Philips blue vision sidelights (501) that I now kept for spares (they match the HIDs but are not so bright as the leds) :)

Sounds good, I'll give those a go too I think... I got bulbs off powerbulbs before, and got the Philips blue vision sidelights free with the order, but those are the ones I just took out.

i just bought a pair of these bad boys,

OSRAM XENARC Xenon Bulb 66040 35W D2S

worked out at €89.70 incl p&p, do ye think it was a good move? A few shops in town quoted me €130-170 for a pair!! My left light was coming on and off of its own accord for ages, it then turned a lovely shade of pink for two days before giving up completely..... Now the right one is playing up, maybe it's just lonely but I figured I'd be as well off get the pair just in case :? good investment?
