remove back seats

Postby ftolam13 » Mon Jan 21, 2008 5:53 pm

has anyone ever removed the back seats for lightweight. does it make a difference? they weigh nothing. the car looks crap without them, im thinking of putting them back in if they dont make much if a difference.

removing the roll cage and aircon would probably have more of an effect. Are you that bothered about saving weight, what sort of driving are you doing?!

the back seats weight less than a couple of kilo. no point in my opinion. Just foam on a frame. lighter than the spare.

I haven't had my back seat in for about a year now..

Very easy to remove - but I couldn't tell you if it really makes a difference on it's own.. I went ahead and removed a few other bits at the same time.

Tools - spare wheel
some of the tat covering the inside of the boot.
bits of the center console..including my dvd changer.

I probably only removed about 3 stone weight or something - never bothered weighing it..

My entertainment is now my exhaust noise..and has been for the last long while..as with everything else you'll get used to it.

Drove with no passegner seat for a few week as well - very very odd experience - but made the car feel extremely roomy :-)

The exhaust noise does increase with removal of the seats..probably doesn't do it any favour in the looks department either - but - heck..

I'll put it back in for the nct.

I'd be inclined to leave the back seats in unless you do a big strip out - they don't weight all that much.
