HID kits - Question

Postby Muad_dib77 » Tue Oct 03, 2006 12:29 pm

Lads Quick question about HID kits..

Most KITs I've seen only support 2 bulbs - meaning that you'd effectively need two kits to get both High and Low beam, or??

Also What's a fair price to pay for a kit?

Are there differences in wattage in the actual ballasts or is it dependant on the bulbs as per normal?

I've seen kits on da Bay sell for as low as 60euros (plus shipping from hong kong) - but I'm assuming that they're pretty rubbish - anybody here have any experience with these cheaper kits?

Oh and I found this light guide that might be handy for others out there..(Click for bigger)

kits are 2 bulbs but you will only need dipped beam bulbs done to notice a massive improvemnet.

Ricerocket is doing them on the UK forum for abt £135.

As you say, the cheaper ones are probably rubbish. There some factors to keep in mind like being water proof.

For my own lights, I find the heads good enough, its just the dimms I needed to improve and the HIDs did a good job on that!

On the different ballasts, I ordered a kit for the 9006 (dipped lights) and got what came with that. I've only got my hands on the one kit, but it connects into the original lead, and takes it from there, so at a minimum your ballast would need to connect to the type of lead your car has, and the HID bulbs would need to be able to sit into the bulb holder the original bulb did.

For the improvement they give the £135 is a pretty good investment! I got mine from Ricerocket so those are prob the same sets I would imagine.
