One less FTO on the road

Postby Ray_S » Wed Oct 21, 2009 6:47 pm

Thanks to the inapt driving abilities of some old Granny Bob Sweeney scrap yard is now the proud owner of a blue GR that is completely written off. He also gained three months o my blood, sweat, tears and love in the transaction! I hate ppl that can't drive. :x Especially when they can't drive directly into the love of my life! :smt089 She's completely totalled. Chassis bent whole front bent into the engine bay!

Ah christ thats a sickener. :(
Sorry to hear that. Any chance of salvaging pieces of it anyway? Might be able to use some parts if you decide to find a cheap one somewhere.

Came off the roxboro roundabout heading into town. The guards were inching out to go left so i slowed and she just flew out to cross over the lane and go right and I drove her into the guards car. 2 guard witnesses to say it's not my fault and no injuries so could be worse. I'd say i'll be giving driving up for a while but I'll be back in the club when my claim comes through.

Sorry to hear, trust me you'll appreciate the car all the more when you can't drive one for a while.

You'll fall in love all over again!

Seems like a pretty straight forward claim especially with the Garda witnesses

Its never good to hear of an accident such as this (especially when an FTO is involved!). You seem to have come out of it unscathed which is a bif positive. Once the insurance business is sorted out, you can look forward to choosing your replacement FTO :smt023

So guys - how do insurance claims generally work out with FTOs ?

If you have the car insured for €5k, do they take this into consideration and then look at market value of say €3k and then hand you over something less like €2500 ? or €3500

Or are you likely to get something closer to your estimated value of €5k ? say €4500 ?

Not planning on writing mine off or anything - just curious as to what ties there are between insured value vs. claim assessed and paid out.

Only based on current market value Kace, nothing really to do with the value you have it insured for....
