I always annoy myself when I read through the motor board forums - very few posters on there seem to have any clue about cars - - and I'd def stay well away from a Vtec vs Mivec debate - I doubt you're going to have a sensible discussion with a spotty baseball cap wearing Civic driver over the merits and applications of either technology - thank God for FTO Ireland is all I'll say.

I see Colm from on here has already posted on that thread - between the two of you ye should be able to hold the Mivec fort.

is there really much of a difference?
like yea you could jump in and talk about the engines but really?

suppose maybe how te engines react but after tat!

anyway! personally i think Nissans VVL is the best overall.

2 of my friends have hte ULTRA rare nissan pulsar VZR N1

and the 3 stages of lift kicking in is really cool!

A MIVEC vs. VTEC debate is something I'm definately not qualified to enter, having only driven a few DOHC VTEC's and a fair few i-VTEC's.

It's a perfect opportunity for keyboard warriors who have never driven a MIVEC or a VTEC to make a show of themselves, and for this I am happy to be a spectator.
From what I can see, the thread started out with someone who had a mildly VTEC'd car wondering what all the VTEC fuss is about, and has evolved into a pointless bashing of technologies few people on there understand.

Its like any car discussion, people are going to side with what they drive. For instance, the whole FTO/Integra Type R discussion. Which is faster and all that. Course some times the FTO is, and sometimes the teggie is, it doesnt only depend on the type of car, but also on the way its been looked after, the age, traction, weight in the car, on and on. Easiest thing to do I find is not get caught up in it cause once people have put their mind to something they usually dont change it too easy. Until they buy a different one, and then its Evo Vs STI, or T-Spark Vs GTi. No end to it.
