Manual Gearbox oilchange

Hi all,

I'd like to change the oil of my manual GS gearbox.


2 questions,

first what oil do I need and where to find it? was looking on camskill but didn't managed to find

second, I can't find this oil tank .. where do I have to empty it and from where can I fill it?

You fill and empty from the gearbox itself.

1. There is a bolt at the bottom of the gearbox. If you look under the car from thepassanger side just infront of the front wheel.

Hen you have it off and the oil drained go to the front looking under the bonnet, you'll see the gearbox to the bottom right

Exactly half way down the dront of the gearbox you will see another large bolt remove this
Following that run approx 250ml into the box and seep out the bottom.

Once ur done put back on the bottom nut (not too tight)

Using a (suggested) funnel and a hose push this into the hole where the top bolt came from and fill with oil,

NB you may need to remove the hose and insert it a fe times as the gearbox may become airlocked



And I think I used semi synthetic 90w 45 oil for the box

Suggest you get a diff / gearbox syringe (can't remember proper name), it can be messy getting the oil back into the box from below.

Beware - used gear oil stinks like hell, try not to spill it on you or on your clothes, the smell takes ages to subside.

thanks for the reply, I did the search after posting and your links but unfortunately it didn't helped me finding it ^^ I am a newbie in mechs :p

So wen u refill it do u just do it til it starts coming out the filling hole and thats the right level? Need 2do mine
