Postby Mustang » Thu May 05, 2005 9:27 am

Steel silver metallic.
Digital a/c, p/s, e/w, electrically adjustable & folding mirrors, front fogs,
Spoiler, leather mitsubishi/momo steering wheel with drivers airbag, leather gear knob.
Rear privacy glass –rear screen and rear side windows (the small triangular windows)
16" Mitsubishi alloys, with good tyres all round including two very fresh Pirelli's on the rear.
6CD boot changer, radio with electric ariel and 'half mast' button for ariel.
Remote central locking, cobra alarm with passive immobiliser and ‘panic’ button facility
NCT 12/05
Tax 07/05
Mileage ~119000km /73780miles
3D chrome/silver embossed FTO logo on the rear bumper recess.
Spotless original interior including original FTO mats, and emergency flare.
Non-smokers car!

I've had the car for about a year and done a lot of work on it in that time.
On taking delivery of the car. I flushed the engine oil and have since been running the car on fully synthetic Castrol RS 10W60 (expensive stuff! And one of the best fully synthetic engine oils commercially available). Oil and filter change every 4 to 5 months.
Also using redline MT90 fully synthetic gear oil (also expensive top quality stuff!)
Front and rear (long life) spark plugs replaced.
Suspension overhaul at about 100,000km, spent approx €400 on links and bushings, including (amongst others) front and rear anti-role bar bushings and droplinks.
Upgraded Philips blue vision bulbs, (standard FTO bulbs are very under powered).
I replaced the exhaust middle section in Feb this year. This part is prone to failure on the FTO.
New front mintex brake pads, brake fluid and windscreen wipers fitted March this year.
March this year also had new steering rack ends complete with gaiters, and track rod ends fitted, and had the car tracked. Total cost including parts and labour ~ $300.
Uprated polyurethane front anti-role bar bushings and droplinks (supplied from Camskill) just fitted. Also just had oil (Castrol RS) and filter change.
Lots of receipts.
Rare opportunity to acquire a very clean post ’95 manual V6 with sports pack.
Careful enthusiast owner!

I can be contacted by pm or phone

Tyre-kickers, time-wasters, test pliots and dreamers all welcome

Price: €8850

’97 FTO’s (albeit facelift versions –not all manuals though!) currently available in the trade have asking prices of between €10.5k & €12.5k. On this basis I feel the asking price is fair and reflects the cars condition as well as the time and money spent on it.

I have to concour - very well maintained FTO - and a rare GR Manual to boot. Having driven this car recently I have to say its as clean an FTO as I've driven. The interior is immaculate as well with no signs of wear.

Good price for a '97 GR manual - If it had a facelift bumper it would be worth an extra €2K - but thats a lot of bucks for a bumper that can be changed fairly easily as per CJ's guide.

Quite a few guys come on here selling FTO's but its fairly rare that a genuine Forum members car comes up for sale - Everything Mustang has done with the car (Bushes/droplinks/centre section etc) would likely need to be added to the cost of buying another FTO.

Only sorry to see you selling the car Mustang.

Me too  Like a lot of ex owners I'll probably hang on to the possibility of returning to FTO ownership at some stage.

I am sorely tempted.

It would mean putting myself in debt again for a couple of years. But sorely tempted.

Let me tempt you some more  I'm based in Shannon so if you're still in Limerick I'm quite close by, you're welcome to come and have a look if you want. Was it you that bought Shane's old GS? If so do you still have it?

Hi Mustang - i'm based in Cork and would be interested in taking a trip up there for a look. If you don't mind me asking - why are you selling?

We'll you are welcome to come and see the car. You have my number or send me a pm and we can arrange something. I'm wearing my sensible hat at the moment  TBH it's time to consider a house purchase, and the FTO doesn't fit into the plans :x Purely a financial decision.

This car is up for sale again. I havent advertised it yet, nor do I have current photos. Soon to be added to a new thread.

It now has 140,000 km and a new CD-MP3 stereo but is still in perfect condition.
If anyone is interested please drop me a PM. I will put a full ad in the CBG over the next two weeks and start a new thread here at the same time.
This post is more just for a heads up :D

I am probably gonna cry when I see this thing driving away.

Just got it back from the service now.
Filled it with 5w40 fully synthetic after being flushed.
New platinum sparks in it, and its purring like a kitten.
I have photos, I just need to shrink em to fit on my album *shakes fist at CJ and his tiny photo size limit* :D.

Its gonna be advertised for €7700 so any interested parties call me on 086-606-2605 or PM me.
