RTE News wrote:A statement from Irish Motorsport has confirmed that this year's Phoenix Park meeting, scheduled for August next, has been cancelled.

The decision was taken in the light of the current economic conditions.

However, it is intended that motor racing will return to the Park in 2012 to help celebrate the 350th anniversary of the establishment of the location.

Pity, this was a good day out.

Pity indeed, but it's too expensive for competitors and having driven it at the races the surface is not suitable at all.

Good to hear, but it was dire when I did it 2 years ago, I can only imagine now what it's like?

I drove through the Phoeno yesterday, Chesterfield Avenue, (the main road) is in terrible shape, the works are not before time...
