Can anyone recommend a mechanic in Galway

Postby scottledeuce » Mon Dec 01, 2008 11:58 pm

Hey,

Heard a bit of a whine under the bonnet yesterday and when I took I noticed I've now lost half of my PS/Aircon belt. It was a good thing I stripped straight away as there was a bit flailing against what I think is a cam sensor and would have probably eaten through it fairly quickly.

I've ordered a new set of belts and tensioner wheel from camskill as they say these need to be replaced quite regular as well(maybe someone can back this up)

Anyway as the title says, can anyone recommend anyone in Galway as the fella I usually go to is back home in Carrick on shannon and I don't want to take a chance on driving back there with half a belt in case it doe's go.

any advice appreciated

Hi
The ones that Ive used in the past that I can recommend are:
- Brendan Fenton on monivea road, I've replaced my alternator here and had the first service
- O'Toole brothers towards moycullen. I've used them quite a lot on different cars and they seem to be decent.
Wouldn't recommend PK motors as they feck up my brakes on the fto.
I also used O'farrels in knocknacarra recently which was decent.
To be honest none of them seem to know a lot about the ftos but they fixed whatever was broken and probably changing some belts is a easy enough job for any mechanic.

Cheers Gabico,

I'll look up some of those now and see If I can get it done this week, as you say the belts should not be the biggest job so I'm not so concerned about getting someone who has fto experience.

on another note I think I may have see that fto of yours around once or twice...looks nice

I don't think I ever saw you in Galway, I would recognize your car anytime..
