Hi There :)

Postby prowler » Thu Jun 30, 2011 2:35 pm

Hi There,

My name is Patrick, 25 yrs old, and I'm living in The Netherlands :).
Since a few weeks, I am the proud owner of a 1994 FTO GPX

The UK licence plates are still fitted, but tomorrow I'm going to the Dutch customs who are going to check the car, so that I can put some Dutch licence plates on it :).

I've looked on this forum several times for some tips & tricks and also if I have some questions regarding technical issues (or something like that), I think this is the best place to be, because there aren't many FTO's in Holland

If you got any questions, just ask ;)

Nice alloys there. I think that there was another Dutch guy on here a few years back, so you're not the first. Must be great to see all the heads turning over there as there's probably only a couple of FTOs in Holland.

The alloys do look nice, but they are quite damaged and need to be replaced. But I noticed that there was another Dutch guy here on the forum. FTO's are quite rare in Holland.
I've seen Aston Martins, Spykers, buggati's, but never a FTO. But it's a real head turner and I wouldn't be supprised if there are less then 20 FTO's in Holland

tnx ;)

It will cost me about 150 Euro (including taxes) to register the car. It took some time getting used to sit on the other side, but after a few days I did not know better :).
Because it's an 4spd A/T, I didn't have to worry about the shifting

But man.... What a car! I used to drive in an Alfa Romeo 156, but this car handles much better 8)

Today was the day. This morning I went to the RDW (the Dutch version of the NCTS) for a check up. This went fine and the only thing left to do, was to pay the BPM (dutch version of the vehicle registration tax).
Total costs: 135,95 euro :D.

The FTO is now registered on my name, and I have to wait a few days for the new vehicle registration certificate. Once I have these, I can get my new license plates 8)

here is a picture of this morning, taken at the RDW:

Just to give your day a little lift...

When I brought my car in from England in 2007, it cost me €2800 to register it here.

DAMN  ! Don't you guys get some kind of discount?
In Holland, If a car is new, than we (the Dutch people) need to pay something like that. If it's a used car, then we get a discount depending on what the new price is of the car and on how old the car is.
Because my FTO is 17 yrs old, I got a discount of 99,553%

Sometimes it isn't that bad to live in Holland :smt003
