Disconnect the battery and leave it for a while. This will reset the tip box.

Yea. Take out the center console (the whole thing) and unplug the A/T ECU.
The battery is a much easier option.

How come you're resetting the AT? I just drove it in tip mode and changed the gears as I wanted them to be, thus making it change to my preference when in auto.
Or else do as I do and never drive in auto, much more responsive, much better for overtaking, (doesn't go into 4th at the wrong time), and a lot nicer when coming to a stop at a roundabout or traffic lights when you can change down through all the gears instead of cruising to a stop in 3rd. :)

You are the man,to tell you the truth i always was an automatic driver(my japanese license is AT only),so i was a bit afraid of using the manual mode. But today i took my F for a ride and tried to change gears, man,it was so much fun,and as you say bye bye to that annoying 3rd->1st when you stop at traffic lights.
Tiptronic was so much fun to drive and i was wasting my time just putting it in drive mode always. :nwor

:D Its a different experience driving in fully auto or in manual mode, like driving 2 different cars. Much more freedom of how high you can let you're revs go. You'll enjoy it, believe me.

By the way, if you're licence is AT only, then if you get stopped just push the lever into the auto position, problem solved. I think the tiptronic gearbox would count as an AT box anyway, that a manual licence is for cars with a clutch as they're harder for people who have never driven a manual before to learn.

The other thing to remember (and Dragonheart touched on it) is if you drive it in manual mode the car will "learn" your driving style.
So the next time you drive in auto it will remember the rev points you like to change at.

I'm not sure how long it needs to map itself but from driving your car DH, you've taught her well

Indeed. Powerful she has become, the dark side I sense in her.
