Head Unit Help Reqd

Postby dave100 » Wed Aug 30, 2006 9:41 pm

Can any ICE bods shed some light on my head unit problem for me?

I attempted to swap the current sony hu and cd changer in the gpx to a newer jvc mp3 hu but when i tried to connect the newer unit up it reqd the bus lead from the changer to be plugged in too. I thought that this lead was only used to SUPPLY power from the hu to the changer and not the other way around. Anyway, the new hu worked for a few seconds then died.

The new head unit worked directly off the 2 black 8 pin connector blocks in my last car but i noticed that these have been butchered in the fto with bullet connectors and a couple of wires disappering into the dashboard!

If i trace the wires back and return the 2 black 8 pin connector blocks to original SHOULD the hu work without the need for this bus lead??
